Seats
The majority of triple buggies begin life as single pushchairs, but some can be converted to take the seat of a second person or carrycot with adapters (these are more commonly found in tandem buggies). Some models allow you to add an extra board to older children who are able to walk but require assistance.
For a lightweight alternative that's ideal for city streets, check out the Joie Evalite Duo. It's easy to maneuver and comes with a large basket with lots of storage. It can accommodate twins from at birth and accepts two car seats, or a carrycot with a seat. The seats are required to face forwards and there's no space to store a bag of groceries underneath, so you'll need a backpack for that.
Mountain Buggy Duet will be a good option for you If you like off-road driving. It's a side-by-side with the slimmest footprint of any double buggy available on the market. It's a true all terrain pushchair, with a soft suspension that makes easy work of bumpy surfaces. It comes with 30 different seating configurations as well as a built-in table for older children who prefer walking, and a "cinema' mode which raises the back seat for better visibility.
The phil&teds dots are fantastic single buggys that are easily modified to take two (or three!) in a variety of configurations. This is especially helpful for parents with children in a car seat as the frame can be equipped with a wedgie for optimum lie-flat positioning, or car seat adapters to various brands.
Suspension
The quality of the suspension on a 3-wheel double buggy is crucial to how easy it will be for you and your baby to push. It is crucial to have a smooth ride, since babies feel every bump in the road. This is particularly the case if you're driving on rough terrain, such as grass or roads that are not paved. Some models also have locking front wheels to help with maneuvering and getting over obstacles such as curbs.

The frame's clever design expands widthways to accommodate a second seat but it still only weighs in at around 11kg, which makes it easy to lift and maneuver. It can be used with a car seat, carrycot or both. This allows you to enjoy the best of both worlds.
